Date shakes. Counting Joshua Trees. Wind blown hair. Some ’80s song plays on the radio. We drive for hours with the windows down. We’ve put 128 miles on the odometer. The roads carve their way through boulder passes and expansive areas of cracked earth and sand. We collect memories in roadside diners and watch the heat dance on the asphalt. The allure of the desert is something that’s never faded for me. The dusty skylines and endless miles of quiet terrain that seem to come alive at night bring me peace.
We try and take advantage of all of the free time we have and are always up for a weekend away in a desert hideaway. Here are some of our favorite Air BnB spots available in Joshua Tree and surrounding areas.

We’re in love with this little, cozy casita. This 1958 home is located just 20 minutes outside of Joshua Tree. Sara and Rich shared, “This is a place for dreamers to reset, reflect, and create. Designed with a ‘slow’ pace in mind, our hope is that you enjoy every part of your stay; from making local coffee by drip in the morning, choosing the perfect record to put on as the sun sets, or by relaxing in the hot tub surrounded by open desert views, wildlife, and a starry sky.” The 900 acres surrounding the property are a protected wildlife corridor so you’re likely to see a variety of wildlife.

The Joshua Tree House is a two bed two bath 1949 hacienda located 10 minutes from the west entrance of Joshua Tree National Park in Joshua Tree, CA. This is Sara and Rich’s sister property in Joshua Tree. They said, “Welcome to the Joshua Tree House! This hacienda was built in 1949. With over 100 Joshua Trees on the property, the views from the house are magical. If you’re up for it, sunrise on the front porch is incredible. We estimate that some of the larger Joshua Trees on the property are as old as our country!”

A sweet little cabin nestled near Joshua Tree. Hosts Lindsey and Brett said, “This North Joshua Tree cabin is the perfect secluded hideaway. Sitting on over 22 acres, our little homesteader cabin was built in the 1950’s and went through a big renovation. A cabin feel with modern amenities including a brand new bathroom with tile rain shower, queen size bed, kitchen, ac/heat, wifi and outdoor shower. Pour over coffee from Joshua Tree Coffee Co and tea provided. Our very private North Joshua Tree location allows for unprecedented panoramic views of Joshua Tree. You don’t have to worry about close neighbors with this uniquely perfect location. (Please note the national park is in South Joshua Tree so definitely drivable, but not super close). Vast unobstructed sunrises and sunsets can be enjoyed from the front porch or back dining patio. If you are looking for a place to get away, but with the necessary creature comforts you will love this space.”
