When summertime ends and it cools down for fall, we always have wood burning in the fireplace and search for cozy, homey dishes to make and enjoy with friends. Finding apple butter in a grocery store (especially good apple butter) is an impossible task. It’s one of those things that will never taste as good from the store, you’ve got to make it yourself. As Thanksgiving approaches, we decided to try making apple butter and were so happy with the results.
There were nights last winter where we’d run inside with rain soaked hair and toss bundles of logs into the fireplace. I’d scatter candles around the house and sometimes leave a window cracked so you could hear the rain. He’d tend to the fire and I’d curl up on the couch with thick, knit socks and listen to blues or folk music.
